After attending the G20 top in Hamburg, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited The Netherlands at the invitation of his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte. EIPO met with him and presented the Binh Duong Smart City project.
During his visit to the Netherland, Prime Minister Phuc met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The two leaders witnessed the signing of documents for cooperation between the two governments and businesses from the two countries. He also met with leaders of the Dutch parliament and senior governmental and local officials as well as representatives of the International Court of Justice and International Court of Arbitration. On July 17th, he attended a Vietnam-Netherlands business forum and a round-table talk with major enterprises and investors from the host country.
During this forum, EIPO was invited in a private round-table talk on the topic of Smart Cities. At this table, Prime Minister Phuc was joined by a delegation of his ministers, other Vietnamese government officials and both the Vietnamese ambassador in The Netherlands, as well as the Dutch Ambassador in Vietnam.
Mr. Peter Portheine presented the Dutch National Strategy on Smart Cities and the Binh Duong Smart City project as a best practice example of Vietnamese-Dutch cooperation on this topic. He was joined by Dr. Martijn Rietbergen, CoE Smart Sustainable Cities from Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, who elaborated on the EU-VN SAUNAC project. After their presentations, there was a fruitful discussion with Prime Minister Phuc and his ministers, including some important suggestions on further strengthening the cooperation between Vietnam and The Netherlands on this topic, built on the front runner position of the Binh Duong project.
