On November 27th 2017, the second edition of the Smart City Summit Binh Duong was organised in close cooperation with Binh Duong government, Becamex Investment & Development Company, the Dutch embassy in Hanoi and the Dutch consulate in HCMC.
After the first summit in March 2016, Binh Duong government decided to follow-up with a second edition, which also took place in the conference center in Binh Duong New City. The summit aimed to further promote the Smart City concept among authorities, businessmen, students and citizens in Binh Duong, present the first results of the Binh Duong Smart Region project and demonstrate the value and benefits to Binh Duong New City.
The one day conference on November 27th featured keynote speeches from the leaders of Binh Duong, as well as the vice mayor of the city of Eindhoven and international thought leaders from industry and universities on smart city and high tech development. The afternoon program included a scientific seminar and a business seminar to share new insights and practical solutions. The conference was attended by some 1,250 participants.
This year’s exhibition featured over 40 companies, showing live demonstrations, interactive platforms and an overview of best practices and new products. Among the exhibitors were Vietnamese companies as well as renowned international companies.
On November 25th and 26th, a 24 hour hackathon took place at Eastern International University, joined by over 70 teams of students from all over Vietnam, aiming to develop a new Smart City mobile app for Binh Duong, as well as other applications on Smart City topics.
